Advocacy
We work for increased awareness and knowledge about coeliac disease.
Mission
Our mission is to help National Coeliac Societies on the international stage, aiming to enhance the quality of life for individuals affected by coeliac disease, Dermatitis herpetiformis (Duhring’s disease), and other gluten-related conditions.
On a European scale, AOECS serves as their unified voice, representing people with various gluten-related conditions and championing the cause of celiac disease through various initiatives.
AOECS's advocacy efforts span a multitude of critical topics related to coeliac disease, including early diagnosis, lifelong treatment, and addressing health risks associated with contaminated food, ingredients, or even food containers.
Our commitment is to raise awareness and actively work towards improving the overall well-being of those impacted by gluten-related conditions.
Advocacy efforts
Codex Observer
Since 1991 AOECS has observer status in Codex Alimentarius Commission. This allows AOECS to follow suggested changes in food legislation and give the coeliac population an international voice.
Partners
AOECS cooperate with organisations who share our aim to make celiac disease more commonly known. We work together with both non-profit organisations as well as commercial companies toward this goal.
Research
The national members of AOECS frequently conduct various research projects. AOECS collects and publish these studies, but also commercial research on coeliac disease for a wider international public to read.
Position papers
Publications establishing and clarifying the joint position of AOECS members on various issues.
