Tomorrow, we open our doors to the 36th Annual General Assembly Conference. The event spans two sessions: an open public conference focused on coeliac disease on the first day, followed by a closed session on the second day, where members will vote on the future direction of our work.
We are honoured to announce that the Executive Director of AESAN, the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition, will open the Public Conference. This endorsement underscores the significance of our advocacy and the potential reach of our collaborative efforts.
AESAN remarked, “We consider the participation of AESAN, through the Executive Director, in the opening of the event due to the intense collaboration that there has been with the different celiac associations in Spain. This collaboration has materialized in the legislation that is currently in force in the EU, of which Spain was driving force”
Since its founding in 1988, AOECS has held regular in-person meetings with its member societies and affiliate members to advance our work. We aim to elevate coeliac disease on decision-makers’ agendas, educate the public on the condition, and ultimately improve quality of life for those affected.
This year’s event brings AOECS back to its roots. In 1988, the founding associations hailed from Spain, France, Italy, and the UK, and the inaugural session took place in Barcelona, Spain. Today, we return to Spain as a much larger organisation than we were at the beginning.
We would like to extend our gratitude to our sponsors, whose support allows us to host this large gathering and accommodate as many participants as possible. This year’s Platinum Sponsors are the pharmaceutical companies Takeda and Dr. Falk, along with gluten-free food producer and Crossed Grain Trademark licensee, Dr Schär.
